We're thrilled to announce that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded AquaRealTime $100,000 over 6 months for phase 1 of a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant. The award is to enable AquaRealTime to further develop its early detection and prediction system for Harmful Algae Blooms. The total grant has the potential to provide $500,000 in non-dilutive financial resources.
The grant is part of the EPA’s ongoing effort to reduce the ecological and economic impacts of HABs as part of their “Treatment for cyanobacteria and cyanotoxins in drinking water (to address HABs)” initiative. This initiative underscores the importance the EPA assigns to the HAB problem. Worldwide, HABs cause $17 Billion in damages annually, impacting human and animal health, closing tourism and recreation venues, decreasing property values, and devastating fishing.
AquaRealTime’s real time early detection system for HABs and other water contamination enables stakeholders to prevent blooms, protect citizens, and isolate toxic water.
